We are proud to announce the release of our NIPSEA Group 2024 Sustainability Report, detailing our progress for the 2024 financial year. As our Group CEO,  Wee Siew Kim, shared, sustainability is more than just data; “It’s a reflection of who we are at NIPSEA Group | Nippon Paint.” This report provides a transparent overview of the choices made and the steps taken across our 28 geographical locations as we work to put people and the planet at the heart of progress.

Our sustainable innovations deliver high performance for a healthier planet.

Why This Matters

Sustainability is more than a corporate goal—it is a core part of who we are. This report not only reflects our progress but also guides our roadmap for the future. It stands as a testament to the collective impact of the small actions and big ideas from every member of our team.

Our 2024 Achievements: The Data Behind the Story

Our efforts this year have yielded strong, measurable results in environmental stewardship, sustainable innovation, and our commitment to our people and the communities we serve.

Our circular approach kept 29,079 tonnes of waste from landfills.

Environmental Stewardship: We have made significant strides in reducing our environmental footprint. Key achievements include:

  • Reduced Emissions: We achieved a 9.8% reduction in greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions intensity compared to our 2021 baseline. This equates to a total reduction of 24,065 tonnes of CO2e, equivalent to removing the emissions of over 5,000 cars from the road for a year.

  • Waste Management: Through a focus on the 3R principles (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle), we successfully diverted 29,079 tonnes of production waste from disposal. This accounts for 40.5% of all waste generated, representing a significant increase from the previous year.

  • Water Conservation: Our efforts led to using 125.5 megalitres less water compared to 2023, a saving equivalent to filling over 50 Olympic-sized swimming pools. This reflects an overall reduction of 4.2% in total water consumption.

Our water savings could fill more than 50 Olympic-sized pools.

Sustainable Innovation: Our focus on innovation continues to drive growth responsibly. In 2024, sustainably developed products accounted for 68.8% of our new product sales, generating USD 1.191 billion in revenue. This is guided by our Green Design Review process, which evaluates a product’s environmental impact throughout its lifecycle. A key example is our development of a low-carbon binder that can replace up to 50% of cement in putties, resulting in over 30% reduction in carbon emissions.

Our emissions reduction is equivalent to taking 5,000 cars off the road.

People, Community, and Safety: Our commitment to social responsibility remains at the core of our values.

  • We positively impacted more than 28 million lives through 84 CSR initiatives globally, investing over USD 3.71 million and committing 168,412 volunteer hours and 628,453 litres of paint.

  • We continued to build a more inclusive workplace, with female representation in management and emerging leadership roles reaching 28.4%.

  • Our focus on safety was unwavering, and we are proud to have maintained zero workplace fatalities.

While we are proud of these results, our journey is far from over. We are currently updating our goals and developing new, ambitious targets for 2030 that align with our expanded business scope and will guide our efforts in the years to come. As Wee Siew Kim concluded, “Sustainability is a mindset. Not a checklist.”
